I also remember being extremely disappointed with the "always online" bullshit and the lack of options but being confident that it was just going to be temporary and with the full launch for sure I'll have everything I wanted and more, from map editor to demo recording to console to LAN and offline bots. I loved how the weapons felt (except the RL which felt weird), I was instantly hooked. I saw the Burial chamber trailer but I was still blown away. I remember being in awe with the map design and the atmosphere. The server queue was atrocious but it was worth it. Then on launch day waiting for more than an hour in line in order to join a match. I remember being extremely happy when I managed to get a code from a coworker (old school Quake fan, sadly no longer plays QC). I remember being extremely hyped for the game and checking leaked footage from a LAN event that took place few week-ends before.

I remember checking the Bethesda Quake page daily for new details related to weapons or champion trailers or map trailers or map lore. There are a few devs that roam this reddit.
