A second study will analyze how to accommodate the projected jail population after the first study. In August, legislators voted to spend $85,000 to study the jail population and assess impacts of the county’s alternatives to incarceration programs. Tompkins County Legislature appropriated $100,000 in 2016 to expand the county’s re-entry efforts and reduce recidivism.
